Max's Big Ride began in 2015 with a father and son 600 km cargo bike ride from Ottawa to Hamilton. We are still going strong in 2020 although this year’s ride will look very different because of the global pandemic. We have two important goals - to increase awareness about Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) and to raise money for research into a cure to save the lives of children with DMD.
100% of donations go directly to research at the University of Toronto - Canada’s #1 research university.
Max’s Big Ride At Home 2020
We are excited to announce that the sixth annual Max’s Big Ride will be taking place from Monday, June 1 to Sunday, June 7.
We will ride the same 600km distance from Hamilton to Ottawa on the cargo bike, but on a stationary trainer in our front yard via the virtual cycling app Zwift. We’ll be staying home and staying safe but continuing the fight against Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
We know it’s a tough time for everyone, but feel that now more than ever it is important to show Max and everyone else affected by DMD that we will never give up.
We hope you’ll give us a little push on our journey. Please check out our Get Involved page for ways to help.
Max + Isla At Home!
They’re not just passengers anymore!
This year Max + Isla will both be riding alongside Andrew at home. They are both aiming to do 15 minutes a day from June 1-7 on their makeshift trainers.
Due to Duchenne, Max has never really been able to ride a bike - but this gives him a chance to spin his legs and be actively involved in the ride. As soon as Isla saw what was happening, she just had to be a part of it too.
We’ll be documenting their efforts day by day starting June 1 and we know they’d love a little push to help them on their way.
A dollar a day or a dollar a minute - no donation is too big or too small. 100% goes to help find a cure for Duchenne muscular dystrophy at the University of Toronto.
